Spiderman Themed Ripple Blanket

I have crocheted this Spiderman themed blanket for my 9 year old nephew.

All he wanted was a Spiderman costume.

Over the years, I have kept up a steady supply of costumes of various characters for him as he is ever fond of dressing up. Starting with a assortment of costumes of mythological characters- Hanuman, Shiv, Ram- we moved on to some characters inspired by TV and movies like Harry Potter, Doremon and Chakravartin Samrat Ashok. I have knit a Griffindor House scarf to go with the Harry Potter costume. One costume he was particularly fond of was Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Most of these costumes were procured from the famous Kinari Bazzar, Chandni Chowk. But now, as the demands become more and more specific, I moved on to Raj Fancy Dresses, Rani Bagh who supplied the customized dresses that I needed

Now coming around to present. For the last few months, he has taken a fancy of Spiderman. This costume was procured easily enough from Raj Fancy Dresses.

But this time I was thrilled because this particular demand gives me a chance to crochet a Spiderman themed Afghan to accompany his costume. Yayyy!!!😊😊😊

Recently, I had discovered that Balaji Wool House at Lajpatnagar stocks Super Bulky yarn. Spiderman blanket gave me the perfect opportunity to try out this yarn.Yayyy again!!!! ☺☺☺☺

So, off I went yarn shopping and one week later, this afghan was ready for dispatch to a very eager kid waiting expectantly for the costume. Yayyy once again!!! 😂😂😂

Thanks for your query. There is indeed an error in row. I have made the correction in the above pattern. It should now read like this-

8.ROUND 8: Sl st into next st. CH 3, 1 DC into 2 sts. [(2 DC, CH2, 2 DC) 1 DC in next 3 sts. Skip 2 sts. 1 DC in next 3 sts. Repeat. Ending with skip 2 sts. Join with sl st to top of beginning CH 3. (144 sts)

Sorry. That’s a error in that pattern.
      It should read-

For all Black Rounds: (1 SC, CH 2, 1 SC) in CH 2 sp.

For all Red and Blue Rounds: (2DC, CH 2, 2 DC) in CH 2 sp.

I have made the necessary correction in the above pattern also. Thanks for bringing this typo to my notice. Hope this helps you and the pattern is clear now.
      Happy crocheting!

        Great. Thanks so much, Amrita.

Also, is there any way you can suggest I cut down the size of the afghan? I believe it’s 72″; I’d like to possibly cut it down by 6″.

This pattern is totally customizable. You can stop when ever you reach the desired diameter. Or you could go on crocheting the alternating red and blue band if you want a larger blanket.

Since you desire a blanket 6 inches smaller than the one featured here, I think you should stop at the last red band. Drop the last blue band. I think this should do the trick.
Do let me know if this works for you.
        Cheers!

The pattern starts for red then black and blue, however the pic indicates red dosent touch black in the center (at beginning ). So is it Red Blue Black (indicated in pic) or Red Black Blue (indicated in pattern)? Confused in color arrangements in center. Pattern and pic do not match.

Your observations are absolutely correct. The pattern and the pictures do not match exactly. And that is because first I created the blanket, and wrote the pattern only afterwards.

So, although I have not used a black row in the beginning when I started this blanket, on reviewing the blanket after completing it, I felt that it would look much better and more consistent if there was a black row between the red and blue in the centre. Hence, I have made the modification in the pattern which makes the pattern different from the picture.

Feel free to skip this black row in the pattern if you like the version in the picture better. It will not make much of a difference in overall size and pattern of the blanket

Hi! Is this the most updated version of this pattern. Even with the corrections I had problems! Hopefully I’m just rusty!

Hi Amrita, I am pretty new at crocheting and I was wondering if you can send a U-Tube video for this pattern. I am getting stuck on the black row.
